Instructions: Please review these instructions before completing your registration, particularly if you are registering on behalf of someone else. When you are ready, proceed to our registration page.

  • Individual Registration: Registrations are by individual, and not by organization.
  • Eligibility: In order to register, you must belong to a CHCI member institution. Please check our Membership Directory to check your eligibility.
  • Hotel: Please ensure that you also book your lodging separately from your registration. We have listed our hotel blocks and additional accommodation options on our hotel webpage.
  • Special Accommodations: If you require accommodation for accessibility, please contact Townsend Center access coordinator Michaela Byrne by April 1. We are able to request rental of captioning equipment or ASL interpretation, and orient you to the accessibility features of our conference venue.
  • Membership Dinner: ($135/person) This optional dinner is attended by most participants of the Annual Meeting and includes a beer and wine open bar for the first two hours and a three-course plated dinner. This dinner will take place at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza on Wed May 29 from 6-9pm.
  • Excursions: These optional excursions take place on Sat June 1 and include the following opportunities:
    • mak-'amham/Cafe Ohlone ($90/person, max 40 registrants): Lunch and education session at this Ohlone Indian cultural institution housed outside the UC Berkeley Hearst Museum of Anthropology on campus, presented by owners Louis and Vincent who will speak on indigenous gastronomy and Ohlone culture. Don't miss this rare and special opportunity! Exact time TBD, June 1.
    • Berkeley South Asian Radical History Walking Tour ($25/person, max 25 registrants): Discover a century of South Asian American activist history on this two-mile walking tour of Berkeley with community historians Barnali Ghosh and Anirvan Chatterjee. 10am-1pm on June 1.
    • Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA): ($5/person, max 30 registrants): Experience a behind-the-scenes tour of one of the world's leading university museums. Regular admission to BAMPFA is $14/person! 12-2pm on June 1.
  • Guests: If you have a guest who would like to attend the Membership Dinner or excursion, please contact us directly at info@chcinetwork.org to receive a link to purchase their entry to those activities. We will prioritize CHCI member attendance at both the dinner and the excursions.
  • Modifying Registration: Need to add the membership dinner or remove an excursion to a registration? You can modify your registration directly through the registration site by clicking on "modify registration." You will be asked to pay or you will be refunded the difference of your modifications.
  • Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to attend the conference, we will refund your purchase price minus a 10% transaction fee through May 13, 2024 for in-person attendance. After that date we will be unable to issue refunds.
  • Privacy Policy: The University of California, Berkeley does not sell, rent, trade or distribute any personally identifiable information obtained from clients to a third party, except in cooperation with government agencies or as required by law. Information collected by the University of California, Berkeley is used for the administrative and operational purposes of our services. You may opt in to receive information from our partners at the annual conference. Your name, affiliation, and e-mail address provided during registration will be shared with the other delegates at the CHCI Annual Meeting as part of the published program. We will delete this information two weeks after the Annual Meeting.

Fees

  • Early bird registration: $250 (until February 29)
  • Regular registration: $275 (until April 26)
  • Late registration: $300 (until May 13) — After May 13, please contact us directly if you would like to register.
  • In-person scholarships available (application deadline February 19)
  • Membership Dinner, optional: $135
  • Excursions, optional: $25-90
  • Local attendees: free registration for select sessions for UC Berkeley affiliated students, staff, and faculty, as well as local residents

  • Week of January 22: Registration opens
  • January 22-February 29: Early bird registration
  • February 19: Scholarship application due
  • March 1-April 26: Regular registration
  • March 4: Scholarship selection complete
  • April 1: Special accommodations deadline

  • May 28-June 1: Annual Meeting 2024

Session Recordings

While we are not offering virtual registration for this conference, we will have available recordings of nearly all sessions after the conference.

Scholarships

It is our pleasure to again offer a limited number of in-person scholarships to our conference. Scholarships include conference registration, roundtrip airfare, accommodations, conference meals, and entry to the optional member dinner. Any individual from a CHCI member institution may apply for this opportunity. The deadline to apply is February 19, 2024. Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee from the CHCI International Advisory Board, and we anticipate contacting selected individuals by March 4, 2024.

Patio Conversations

On each full day of the Annual Meeting, we will offer informal conversations facilitated by our members on topics of mutual interest. These conversations will take place at the conference venue during either breakfast or lunch. The deadline to submit a proposal for a conversation is May 20 and you may view the full instructions here.

Local Attendees

For those local to UC Berkeley, we will have a local program available and you will be able to attend select sessions for free. This will be available after we publish our full program.
