2023 Annual Meeting: Fees and Registration

Back to Meeting Overview

Registration is now closed for the CHCI Annual Meeting 2023!

For those local to Santiago, please refer to the local program to view sessions we are offering to local audiences for free.

For those who would still like to attend virtually, please view the program for access to select sessions we will be streaming live for free. Additionally, we will have available recordings of nearly all sessions shortly after the close of the conference.

We are thrilled to offer the next CHCI Annual Meeting as an in-person and bilingual conference. We have conceived of this conference as a meeting of the CHCI membership and also as a regional Latin American conference, in order to create an opportunity for all invested in the humanities in Latin America to collaborate and form connections. To that end, we are offering a limited number of in-person scholarships by application.

Please note that this year you have the convenience of registering as an individual without an institutional fee. If you have any questions about your registration or the Annual Meeting, please contact us at info@chcinetwork.org.

Hotel: for all our guests, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Hotel Plaza San Francisco, which is a ten-minute walk from the Casa Central of the University of Chile, where the conference will take place. To reserve your room at the Hotel Plaza San Francisco, please contact the manager directly. See full details and instructions here on our hotel and travel page.

Hybrid conference cancellation announcement (May 15, 2023)

Dear CHCI members,

Our 2023 Annual Meeting is just a month away and we are excited to see many of you who have already registered to attend in person in Santiago. We are happy to report that, despite the long travel to Santiago, our registration numbers have already equaled those from last year’s meeting in Durham. Recognizing that this long distance might make it difficult for some of you to attend, we had decided to offer the option to attend the conference virtually. However, just a handful of you have registered to do so, and, given the financial cost and logistical challenges that comes with this option, the organizing committee has decided that the most reasonable course of action would be to cancel the option to attend the full conference virtually.

Because we still think that the location of Santiago in the U.S. Eastern Time zone would make it possible to join sessions of particular interest to those locate in North America, we have decided to still offer, for free, the possibility of joining some of our network meetings, (Health and Medical Humanities, Critical Humanities Spaces), our membership plenary meeting, our humanities center best practices session, and our Latin American humanities event. Those sessions will be offered via Zoom, with pre-registration. Please note that interpretation will not be offered via Zoom for those sessions. In addition, we are committed to offering access to conference materials, including recordings of the plenary sessions and panels, within a relatively short time after the event.

We want to thank the few who had registered virtually, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Sincerely,

Guillaume Ratel and Aaron Fai

CHCI Staff
