Public Humanities Network Call for In-Person and Digital Presentations

Call for in-person presentations:

The Public Humanities Network invites proposals for in-person presentations to take part in a panel on 'The Public Humanities and Human Rights’ as part of the Annual Meeting of the CHCI in Chile this June 20-24. The panel will be on Wednesday, June 21 from approximately 2:30-4 pm in partnership with the Museum of Memory and Human Rights at a venue in Santiago that will be confirmed shortly. The panel will be conducted in Spanish and English, with simultaneous interpretation. Proposals can be in either language. It is envisaged that Director María Fernanda García will first speak for twenty minutes on the mission and activities of the museum, and then each selected panelist will speak for ten minutes about the Public Humanities and Human Rights in context of their knowledge and practice. We anticipate selecting three in-person presenters, which will give the panel 15-25 minutes for additional conversation and/or Q&A.

To be considered for the panel, please submit a one-page proposal that includes a short bio and outlines your interest to wcha@uga.edu by Friday, April 7. Panelists can be anyone involved in a CHCI member center or institute. Selected panelists will be expected to register and attend the Annual Meeting. There are limited in-person scholarships available with a general application deadline of April 2, which will be extended to April 7 for those who apply for this proposal opportunity.

Digital call for video presentations:

In addition, we invite centers and institutes that are not attending the Annual Meeting to submit a short video of no more than three minutes that speaks to the meeting’s theme of ‘Conmociones: Critical Distance and the Construction of the Common’. This is a great way to share the work of faculty, students, and public partners, and examples of videos from last year’s Annual Meeting can be viewed here. Please contact wcha@uga.edu by Friday, April 28 for instructions on how to submit your video, which will be shared with the consortium at large as a digital exhibit during the Annual Meeting.
