Call for Participants: École Doctorale des Ateliers de la Pensée (Dakar, February 2022)

In 2018, the Ateliers de la pensée de Dakar have set up, with the support of CHCI, an "École doctorale" whose primary objective is to contribute to the empirical, methodological and theoretical renewal of the study of Africa and, more generally, of dynamics of transformation in contexts of instability and uncertainty.

A place of intensive learning, the École doctorale des Ateliers de la pensée is an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to the training of new generations of researchers, at the interface between humanities and life sciences, the study of technologies, environment and habitat, climate change, new forms of migration and mobility, health sciences and disciplines of the imagination (literature, music, cinema, theater, visual arts, history art...). In particular, the École intends to introduce participants to contemporary transnational debates on new knowledge and planetary issues, from a continental and diasporic African perspective.

As part of the Mellon-CHCI Africa Humanities Workshop series, the 2022 session of the École doctorale, "Bond cosmologies and forms of life," will take place from February 21 to 25, 2022. Please note that the working language is French.

The 2022 Session will bring together participants from Africa and its diasporas. Priority will be given to people at the very beginning of their thesis (begun in 2019 or 2020), but the École remains open to more advanced doctoral students and post-docs.
