About

In September 2017, the University of Tyumen will launch a new teaching and research unit, the School of Advanced Studies (SAS). The strategic goal of the SAS is to contribute to the global debate on the most important problems in the area of social sciences and humanities, and to provide a unique, high-quality education for the best prepared, most talented, and most highly motivated students from Russia and abroad.

The educational program of the SAS will offer students the opportunity to undertake an interdisciplinary study across the social sciences and humanities, extending to their intersection with information technology and the biological sciences, and offering wide latitude and personal choice regarding the individual educational path ("liberal arts" model). The baccalaureate program will be bilingual (Russian and English).

the SAS’s research program aims to position the SAS as an institution with its own academic identity and internationally recognized expertise in a number of key research areas of global significance.

The SAS will rely on multidisciplinary research teams integrated into global academic networks; structurally, these teams will replace traditional disciplinary departments and ensure intensive communication among faculty members within and across the teams. In September 2017, the University of Tyumen will launch a new teaching and research unit, the School of Advanced Studies (SAS). In a few years the SAS will be employing 40 permanent faculty. We have now completed the first round of faculty search which culminated in a project design session

We are about to start seeking to fill several postdoctoral fellowships to supplement the project teams with necessary expertise, as well as several positions of permanent faculty.
