Mission Statement: The Furman Humanities Center's mission is to enhance and build Furman’s commitment to the humanities by promoting three overarching goals: • Raise the profile of the humanities at Furman University • Support the work of faculty • Support the work of students
The Furman Humanities Center facilitates ongoing programs and activities to support faculty scholarship and teaching in the humanities, and to support undergraduate student interests in the humanities. The FHC serves as a campus advocate for the humanities, and works closely with other operational and academic entities on campus. The FHC makes visible the value and importance of studying the humanities, including by helping to illustrate the connections between study of the humanities and post-graduation outcomes in terms of civic engagement, career preparation and life satisfaction.
