About

CHASE engages collaborative research activity across 9 institutions: the Universities of East Anglia, Essex, Kent and Sussex, the Open University, The Courtauld Institute of Art, Goldsmiths, University of London, Birkbeck, University of London and SOAS, University of London. Established as an Arts and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Training Partnership in October 2013, the Consortium is building a distinctive network of partnerships with new and established organisations in the creative and public sectors.

It is central to our ethos that serious disciplinary research is interdisciplinary.  With an emphasis on emerging or less-established fields of study and creative practice, CHASE supports research that is both socially engaged and socially challenging.  Our research and training environment encourages faculty and doctoral researchers to contest the boundaries and methodologies of disciplinary study and to explore new forms of attention, practice and communication.
