About

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture (CISSC) is Concordia's meeting place for scholars, researchers, and artists to exchange ideas and develop interdisciplinary projects in the humanities and arts.

The Centre organizes lectures, seminars, and conferences to promote interdisciplinary work. The Centre's role is to highlight Humanities scholarship at Concordia, with particular attention to work that crosses disciplinary lines or does not easily fit within individual academic departments.

The Centre is also home to Concordia's innovative PhD in Humanities program, where students have the opportunity to work with faculty from across the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts.
