Luce/ACLS Program in China Studies
The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) invites scholars seeking funds for research and writing to apply for Luce/ACLS Program in China Studies fellowships and grants.
The Luce/ACLS Program in China Studies aims to promote and sustain excellence in research on China and Chinese cultures, histories, and communities, to foster a more diverse and inclusive field, and to inform public understanding of China, with a special emphasis on early career scholars and the strengthening of scholarly networks within China Studies.
The program supports a wide range of scholarly research in China Studies, including multidisciplinary and multimethod approaches, Sinophone studies, and Global China, and encourages creative and responsive scholarship on China and its influence and impact on communities, societies, and cultures around the world.
In 2024-25, ACLS is offering the following fellowships and grants to support research, writing, and publicly engaged scholarship:
Awards are financially supported by the Henry Luce Foundation, with long-term fellowships made possible in part by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom.
