Documenting the Impact of the Humanities in Higher Education

New professional development courses are starting next week! Register today to attend one of NHA’s professional development courses on documenting impact.

We are pleased to offer two professional development courses this summer for higher ed-based humanities scholars and practitioners to learn how to document the impact of humanities courses, internship programs, publicly engaged projects, and more. Both courses are available to anyone and offered at a discounted rate for NHA members. Attendees can choose between the introductory or advanced course.

Introductory course: This course is designed for those who are new to approaches to documenting impact, including survey design, conducting interviews and focus groups, and analyzing and visualizing data. It will introduce attendees to the basics of research design and how to leverage the data collected. This course will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT on June 25, 26, and 27, 2024.

Advanced course: This course is designed for those who have completed the introductory course or have some experience with approaches to documenting impact, such as writing surveys and analyzing and visualizing data. It will consist of hands-on workshops in which attendees will spend time applying the workshop concepts to a specific project or initiative of their choosing and will leave the course with a research design plan. This course will be held from 2:00 - 3:30 pm EDT on July 16, 17, and 18, 2024.

Each course also offers the opportunity for attendees to connect with others in similar roles or who are interested in similar topics to create a community of practice around humanities assessment and impact.

Attendees who complete a course will receive a certificate of completion from the National Humanities Alliance.
