The CHCI-CCKF 2019 Summer Institute seeks to explore how humans use and reuse space through the comparative study of the post-industrial cities of Detroit and Shenyang.
Running from June 22 to July 6, 2019, The Space of Two Cities brings together renowned scholars from various disciplines and from around the world. Organized by Haiyong Liu, the paper presentations, keynote speakers, movie screenings, and community events are a testament to the vitality of Chinese Studies. More than that, this Summer Institute highlights the contributions of Chinese Studies to the global humanities.
Beyond reaching scholarly communities, this Summer Institute seeks the participation of and contributions from the residents of Shenyang and Detroit. All of the events at this year's Summer Institute will be open to the public and the organizers have planned a number of Skype sessions and online forums to connect these two cities.
A schedule of the institute is available below.
