CHCI-NHA Gatherings for Humanities Center Leadership and Staff
We are pleased to share the third monthly gathering for humanities center leadership and staff, co-hosted by the National Humanities Alliance (NHA) and the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes.
CHCI-NHA Gathering #4
June 10, 2021
- Alison Landsberg, Director, Center for Humanities Research at George Mason University
- Tracy Neal Leavelle, Director, Kingfisher Institute for the Liberal Arts and Professions at Creighton University
More programs from around CHCI will be featured in two Flash Presentation sessions during the 2021 CHCI Annual Meeting. These sessions will be chaired by Rachel Arteaga and Peggy McCracken.
The next CHCI-NHA Gathering will be held in September 2021.
Please fill out this brief survey that asks whether you would like to present in the future and what topics you are hoping to discuss at upcoming gatherings. Even if you have filled out the survey previously, please feel free to take it again to add additional topics to be discussed.
About
Each one-hour meeting will include two presentations, to be followed by a discussion. Humanities center directors and/or staff will describe their institutions, identifying their institutional structure, staffing, and funding sources; signature programs and the audiences they engage with; and how they advocate for their centers and the humanities more broadly. The allotted time for Q&A and group discussion may focus on a topic of the presenter’s choice, allowing participants to brainstorm and strategize together. Our goal is to create a forum for the exchange of practical information, programming ideas, and advocacy strategies.
We are grateful to Rachel Arteaga, Assistant Director of the Walter Chapin Simpson Center for the Humanities at the University of Washington, and Peggy McCracken, director of the Institute for the Humanities at the University of Michigan, who serve as co-conveners of the gatherings. They will solicit and schedule volunteer presenters and prioritize the representation of a wide range of institutions with diverse teaching, research, programming, and advocacy activities.
