The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens

The Huntington is an oasis of art and culture set amidst 150 acres of breathtaking gardens. Three art galleries and a library showcase magnificent collections of rare books and manuscripts, 18th- and 19th-century British and French art, American art from the 18th to the early 20th century, and a small but noteworthy collection of Renaissance paintings. The private, nonprofit institution was founded in 1919 by Henry Edwards Huntington and opened to the public in 1928.

Research Fellowships

In any given year, The Huntington awards approximately 170 research fellowships, twenty or so of them for a full academic year in residence, the remainder for shorter periods of access to the collections. These fellowships derive from a variety of funding sources and have different terms. Recipients of all fellowships are expected to be in continuous residence at The Huntington and to participate in and make a contribution to its intellectual life.
