About

The Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change is a University of Minnesota campus-wide center that seeks to foster an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural community of faculty and students committed to supporting and advancing research, education and collaborative initiatives related to global change, with a focus on the global south. Center Description: The Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC), as part of the Global Programs and Strategy (GPS) Alliance at the University of Minnesota, seeks to foster an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural community of faculty and graduate students committed to studying global change, with a focus on the global south. ICGC’s scholarly activities address themes including justice; peace, conflict, and security; social and environmental change; human rights; development; and international cooperation. We understand the global south to include communities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America as well as communities in North America, Europe, and elsewhere experiencing marginalization or living precariously in the context of global change. We also emphasize transnational knowledge flows and production. ICGC’s philosophy focuses on interdisciplinary perspectives, globally engaged scholarship, and a recognition of the necessary connection of diversity and academic excellence.
