The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) is a Recognized Independent Centre of the University of Oxford. The purpose of the CHCI-OCIS Visiting Fellowship programme is to support research in any area of the arts, humanities, or the social sciences that has relevance to the study of Islam or the Muslim world (particularly anthropology, economics, geography, history, international relations, law, literature, philosophy, politics, religion, and sociology).
Applicants should be affiliated with a member organization of the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI). The duration of the fellowship will be for a minimum of one academic term and a maximum of one academic year. Visiting Fellows are required to be in residence in Oxford and are expected to devote their time to research and writing and to participate in the Centre’s academic activities. Download the 2015-2016 CHCI-OCIS Visiting Fellowship flier.
CHCI member organizations may nominate one scholar from their home institution (and are free to develop their own internal selection processes for identifying a fellowship candidate). Nominees will be reviewed by both CHCI and OCIS. There are no application forms. Candidates should send a letter with a CV, a brief statement of proposed research, evidence of financial support, and a recommendation from their CHCI member organization.
The deadline is February 1.
Nominations should be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to:
