In response to a longstanding interest among our members, we are pleased to announce the creation of Affinity Groups within the CHCI membership. These groups will be organized around a shared issue, theme, operational concern, or another area of focus. CHCI will provide various modes of support to each group, including the provision of meeting time and space at each Annual Meeting, listserv development and maintenance, space on the CHCI website, and other forms of support to be announced. A formal structure for the initiative is in development and will be shared with the membership at the 2010 CHCI Annual Meeting.

Three groups have been formed for the pilot year of the initiative in 2010-11: Humanities for the Environment; Associate Directors and Administrators; and Digital Humanities. Please click on each group’s link for more information.

Time and space for Affinity Group meetings has been arranged during the 2010 CHCI Annual Meeting at Brown University. Affinity groups will have an opportunity to meet at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 13, 2010, the day before the beginning of the full Annual Meeting program on June 14.
