About

Created in 2007 as the Humanities Initiative, the NYU Center for the Humanities draws on the diverse talents and interests of NYU's humanities faculty and students to promote teaching and research in the humanities across the university. From cinema studies, history and legal and business ethics to Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, performance studies and the arts, NYU boasts a wide range of outstanding departments and programs in the humanities as broadly defined. The Center is committed to bringing NYU's humanists together as well as to exploring the role of the humanities in the larger university and global community.

Each year, the Center supports a team of graduate and faculty fellows, clusters of faculty engaged in collaborative research, and outreach programs to schools and cultural communities in New York City. The Center hosts events for the NYU community and the wider public, and also supports other events on campus and NYU's sites abroad. The Center's website features a calendar of humanities events on campus, and its online archive and publications aims to provide access to cutting-edge research in the humanities for the global community.
