<em>Application Review Begins September 12, 2011</em></p>
<p>The Center for 21st Century Studies (C21) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks applicants for the full-time academic staff position of Administrative Program Manager II (Deputy Director). In collaboration with and under the general supervision of the Director of C21, the Deputy Director is responsible for planning and implementing seminars, lectures, and international conferences; coordinating overall communications and outreach strategy; assisting with planning and implementing external development campaign; working with the director to develop and implement strategies to expand and promote humanities and campus-wide transdisciplinary research collaborations; and leading and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Center. Minimum Qualifications: 1) a graduate degree in the humanities, arts, or social sciences, or related field; 2) broad knowledge of 21st century studies in the humanities, arts, and social sciences; and 3) excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.</p>
<p>Preferred Qualifications: 1) PhD in the humanities, arts, or social sciences, or related field; 2) familiarity with recent developments in digital humanities; 3) administrative or supervisory experience; 4) experience with at least one of the following: graphic design, web design, or social media. 5) experience with grant application procedures and federally funded projects; and 6) budgetary experience. </p>

<p>The Academy seeks a Program Associate to oversee its Initiative for Humanities and Culture and to support associated research initiatives.  This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in advancing multidisciplinary projects and studies with some of the country&#8217;s leading humanities scholars. She or he will work with Academy Fellows and senior staff to carry out policy initiatives and to identify and develop new projects; create, organize, and help produce programmatic content for conferences and symposia; develop background research for projects and reports; edit research papers and publications; write grant proposals and assist in fund raising; and help expand the profile of the Academy in the academic community.  </p>
<p>The successful candidate will possess a PhD in the humanities; five years of relevant project administration experience in a university, foundation, learned society, or non-profit; experience working with senior faculty; knowledge of policy issues in the humanities; strong writing, editing, research, and communication skills; and successful grant writing expertise and familiarity with private foundations and other funding sources.
