Brown University
Application Deadline: March 15, 2010
Brown University is seeking young scholars and faculty members who may be interested in participating in the Brown International Advanced Research Institutes (BIARI) this June. BIARI was launched in 2009 by the Brown Office of International Affairs, with support from Santander Universities, and is an integral part of Brown President Simmons’ plan for internationalization. BIARI seeks to develop an academic platform for young faculty from the global south, with Brown at its hub. BIARI 2009, with its four intensive two-week Institutes designed and led by Brown faculty, was a resounding success, and brought together 150 young scholars from 50 countries with over 70 leading academics who participated as invited guest faculty members. This year, the four BIARI will be:
- Development and Inequality in the Global South (June 6 -19)
- Towards a Critical Global Humanities (June 6 -19)
- Climate Change and Its Impacts: Resilience and Adaptation to Changes in Precipitation (June 13-26)
- Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (June 13-26)
The target group is junior faculty members, but the organizers are also open to applications from late-stage PhD candidates of exceptional promise and will consider all applicants regardless of geographic location. The application deadline is March 15th, 2010. Complete information on BIARI and the June 2010 Institutes, as well as application guidelines, can be found on the BIARI website.
