The Jackman Humanities Institute at the University of Toronto is pleased to announce its A.W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships program for 2010-11. Up to three Fellows will be selected for a two-year fellowship on the basis of accomplishments, promise of excellence, and relevance of their research to the institute’s 2010-11 annual theme, Image and Spectacle. During the thematic year, we will examine such ideas as the ways in which beings make worlds appear by imagining and “imaging” them and the role of performance in making these worlds known to others. This cross-cultural theme embraces the study not only of how images relate to the reality of the world, but also of how individuals and societies generate images.
